St. Columba's Parents' Association St Columba's School Iona Road has an active Parents' Association Committee, which works closely with the Principal and the Board of Management to build effective co-operation and partnership between home and school. Much of this work takes place at monthly meetings where subjects discussed range from school policies to the need for running repairs. Activities throughout the year include organising and providing refreshments at social gatherings for parents and students around all important events from the first day of school to the 6th class graduation. Fundraising for student activities and minor school repairs also features, generally involving one major fundraiser per year as well as other initiatives (e.g. Christmas Cards, School Calendar) which vary from year to year. In addition to the committee there is a long list of active volunteers who are happy to help out whenever called upon for anything from baking cakes and making sandwiches to taking photos and designing cards. In January the President Mary McAleese visited our school and the parents association were delighted to be involved in this momentous occassion.(See photo below) For more details about the Presidents visit and the parents association please go to our school website www.stcolumbaionard.net or our NEW website at www.ionaparents.com Katy Egan
